Decibelle Recording

Decibelle Recording is located in the Noe Valley district of San Francisco. It is owned and operated by producer/mixer JJ Wiesler (see jjwiesler.com for more info). The studio, originally called Mobius, was built in 1976 by engineer Oliver DiCicco. Oliver closed the studio to the public in 2002, though he continues to do some work for his own project Mobius music.

The centerpiece of the control room is an API Legacy console with 32 main channels, 32 550 Eqs, 16 busses, and 24 212 Mic Pres. It has a 48 channel monitoring section for 80 total line inputs. It was recently rebuilt by Vintage King Audio in Chicago and is in beautiful condition. The live room features oak floors and an AVIOM headphone system. We have  lots of instruments: drum kits, piano, hammond, wurli, celeste, bells, guitars, basses, and analog synths. These are often left set-up and mic’ed to reduce wasted time and keep the space conducive to the creative process.
